I joined NYMCCHR because I've always been really interested in global health. I saw it as the perfect way to get involved in something that I could do here locally that would make an impact on someone's life course. I think that refugees' stories do not get told enough, that so many people in our own neighborhood have backgrounds and life experiences we could never imagine, and that it is our obligation in medicine to help advocate for and tell those stories. I love the medical-social-legal crossover that the clinic has, and with advocacy specifically, I feel empowered that there are so many little things I can do that could make someone's adjustment to life in the US just a little bit easier.
