F A Q
Q: Who can volunteer?
A: You are eligible to volunteer if you are a student at New York Medical College (any year) who has completed an affidavit training.
Q: How are volunteers selected?
A: Volunteers are chosen through a lottery system.
Q: What is the difference between Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) and the NYMC Center for Human Rights?
A: PHR is a national not-for-profit NGO that aims to use science and medicine to advocate against human rights violations around the globe. It has a strong chapter at NYMC, with which we share many members. However, we are two distinct entities. Although those affiliated with NYMCCHR tend to care deeply about all human rights topics, the clinic focuses on human rights within the context of immigration, refugee status and asylum in the United States.
