Salwa Raheel

Secretary

Salwa Raheel serves as the Secretary for the Center for Human Rights at New York Medical College (NYMC). With a background deeply rooted in healthcare and community service, Salwa brings experience and dedication to her role.

Salwa's journey in serving others began during her undergraduate years at Stony Brook University, where she served as a Resident Assistant, fostering a close-knit community and organizing community-building events. After completing her B.A. in Biology with a minor in Sociology, Salwa embarked on her AmeriCorps Year in Service, coordinating a team to manage a group home for pregnant women and advocating for vulnerable populations based in Phoenix, AZ. 

In addition to her role as Secretary, Salwa is an active participant in various extracurricular activities, including holding leadership positions in organizations such as the OBGYN Interest Group and Medical Students for Choice. Salwa is currently pursuing her MD/MPH at New York Medical College, where she continues to embody the values of compassion, empathy, and advocacy.
