Yazan Nagi
Former Executive Director
NYMCCHR really struck out to me as the most concrete way to bridge the gap between immigration justice and medicine as a student. I spent the first half of my life in Chicago before moving to the Middle East, where I became more exposed to the life my parents left before immigrating to the US. As a descendent of refugees, I learned of the common issues related to health, education, and immigration status faced domestically and abroad, and I became determined to dedicate myself towards them. As a CHR team, we assist in the first steps towards establishing stability for asylees and their families, which can create a positive impact that echoes far into the future. CHR's mission is constantly growing, and I envision becoming a crucial pillar of support in the Westchester community.
